How we find and verify what we publish
We try to be explicit about where information comes from and how confident we are in it.
Primary sources first
When possible, we go to the source: official government immigration sites, school websites, clinic directories, building listings. We'd rather link to something authoritative than summarize it in a way that might go out of date.
We also rely heavily on communities of people who've already made this move — expat Facebook groups, Reddit, the Buenos Aires subreddit. When we use information from these sources, we try to note how current it is and how consistent it is across multiple people's experience.
What we label and why
Argentina changes fast — currency controls, visa rules, school availability. Something that was true six months ago may not be true now. Where we know something is likely to change, we say so. Where our information has a date, we include it.
We don't pretend to certainty we don't have. If the honest answer is "it depends" or "we're not sure yet," that's what we write.
First-person experience
We've done a scouting trip to Buenos Aires and will do more before we move. When something is based on a visit — a neighborhood we walked, a school we toured, a consulate appointment we attended — we say so. That's different from desk research, and it's worth knowing which you're reading.
What we don't publish
- Paid or sponsored content of any kind.
- Claims of firsthand experience we haven't had.
- Information we can't trace to a source.
- Advice on legal or tax matters — we're not lawyers or accountants.
Updates
This is a living document. We update pages as we learn more or as things change. If something you relied on is now wrong, please let us know — we'd rather fix it than leave outdated information up.
